Google’s Android Lollipop update, aka Android 5.0 is out now, ready for download as I type this.
You may or may not want to dive in and download. Depending on your experiences, it might be a good idea to sit back for a few days and let the early adopters work out the kinks.
Whether you are interested in download now or not, here are a few of the new features you might find worth writin’ home to momma about. Or writing a blog about. Or, whatever you’re into.
Here they are:
Remember everyone raving about the iOS 8 Health Kit for Apple? Well, it hasn’t really panned out the way it was planned (some folks report). Google Fit, however, is supposed to be the real deal and it’s now stock as part of Android 5.0.
Share your tablet or your phone with someone? Pain in the rear, right? Not anymore. With Lollipop, you can now set up multiple user profiles. So, when your little one or your whomever uses the device, they can load all of their preferences and keep from messing around with yours.
Better Face Unlock Experience
Android 4.0 brought about facial recognition. Android 5.0 takes it to the next level by allowing you to unlock your phone while check notifications, reports Business Insider. A big improvement considering, previously, this was a completely different step.
Better Battery Life
Heard of Google’s Project Volta? If not, they are aiming to ever-increasingly improve the battery life of all your devices. With Android 5.0, there is a power savings more that is said to extend your battery life by up to 90 minutes.
